The Portland Police Museum was created in 1976 by members of the Portland Police Bureau to celebrate the Nation's bicentenial.  It was first located in Old Town and moved to the sixteenth floor of the Justice Center in 1984.  In 2011 the exhibits were relocated to the first floor of the Justice Center.

With the move to the first floor, there is no longer a requirement for identification to visit the museum.

The Museum has exhibits and gift shop on the first floor; collections and archives on the sixteenth floor.   We reply to many requests throughout the year regarding Portland history, police history and geneaology searches.
