The Portland Police Museum offers a supervised internship for upper-division undergraduates of four-year post-secondary institutions. Related areas of study could include History, Public History, Tourism Management, Criminal Justice, Social Science, Political Science, Non-Profit Business Administration and Public Education. Academic credit will be the responsibility of the student's home institution. Internships in the Portland Police Museum are unpaid.
Assignments and duties will be selected based upon the interests of the intern and the suggestions an academic advisor. Possibilities could include;
• Exhibit creation.
• Topical research and writing.
• Archival processing.
• Oral history interviews.
• Photographic scanning and reproduction.
• Developmentally appropriate tours.
• Retail management.
• Non-profit records management.
All interns must successfully complete a background investigation with the Personnel Division of the Portland Police Bureau before internship hours will commence.
